Pope Day in Seattle — at the University of Washington

I wanted to let you know what the University of Washington Newman Center is doing for Pope Day 2003.

Monday, October 13th
We have Adoration from 8:00 -10:00 pm and Confession from 9:00 -10:00 pm.

Wednesday, October 15th
We are praying the Rosary at 8:30 pm (Luminous Mysteries) and then having a vigil mass for John Paul II at 9:00 pm. There we will unveil and bless the picture of the Pope that we bought to hang at the Newman Center.

Thursday - Friday, October 16th & 17th
We will have a table on campus to hand out information. The Chancery office at the Cathedral is donating 300 copies of the special insert that is going in The Progress (Our Catholic Newspaper) that we will give to UW students so that they have a greater respect for the Pope and the Catholic Church. I am also trying to put together some other information about specific teachings (such as Theology of the Body) for people to read. We will also distribute the publication, “John Paul II on Love & Responsibility.”

Thursday, October 16th
We are having a guest speaker, Dr. James Feelak (UW History Professor and Blessed Sacrament Parishoner), to talk about John Paul II and the papacy.

Friday, October 17th
We are not sure about this yet, but we will probably have a movie night and show “Witness to Hope”
